German speaking practice · private beta

Rehearse the conversation before you have it.

Describe the situations you actually face: a client call, a flat viewing, a doctor’s appointment. Niche Impromptu turns them into challenges you answer out loud, then shows you exactly what to say better next time.

Invite-only while we shape it with early learners. B2–C1 German first.

Tutor notes for a take called ‘The release slips by two weeks’: word count, pace and grammar issues, then the tutor’s read and what to work on next.
Weak points on a phone: ‘Verb in second position’, five times across four attempts.

How it works

Your situations. Your words. Out loud.

  1. 1

    Describe your world

One or two sentences about who you talk to and why. A few clarifying questions turn it into a reusable persona.

  2. 2

    Draw a challenge

A direct question, a timed prompt, or a case brief with numbers you have to react to. Never one you have rehearsed.

  3. 3

    Speak, unscripted

Optional silent prep, then you record. No coaching mid-answer; that is the point.

  4. 4

    Read the tutor’s notes

Your transcript line by line, better phrasing, the vocabulary you were reaching for, and how a fluent speaker would answer.

Case briefs that feel like Monday morning.

Work challenges come with context, reference data and the exact question the other person will ask. You have to think in German about a real problem, not recite a dialogue.

Every company and person in a challenge is fictional. Your real clients never appear.

A case brief: a release slipped by two weeks, a reference table with dates and load numbers, and the client’s question in German.

Tutor notes

Precise, not polite.

Notes name what to fix without hedging or flattery, in English with German examples.

  • Better phrasing: your sentence, and the one a native speaker would say.
  • Jargon from your world: the terms people in your field actually use.
  • How a pro would answer: a model take built on what the notes just taught.
  • A certainty score, so a misheard ending is never filed as your mistake.
Tutor notes: jargon from the learner’s field with examples, and a model answer that uses the taught terms.

Weak points

The mistakes that keep coming back.

Every mistake is filed from your own words under the grammar pattern it belongs to. Once one shows up three times across two attempts, it becomes a weak point with a short reminder. You stop fixing sentences and start fixing habits.

Weak points: ‘Verb in second position’, five times across four attempts, with each example in the learner’s own words.

A practice studio, not a game.

No streaks, no mascots, no points. Niche Impromptu is for adults with a real conversation ahead of them, who want to walk in having already said it out loud. Your recordings and notes stay private to your account.
